Fuel Price Freeze: Petrol, Diesel Set to Stay the Same

Petrol and diesel prices are expected to remain mostly the same until December 15, 2024, due to limited changes in international prices and a slight improvement in the exchange rate. Over the past fortnight, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) saw a minor increase, but the import premium stayed steady. The rupee’s slight strengthening against the dollar is expected to cause a price hike of about Rs3 per litre for petrol, HSD, and kerosene. However, this increase is small enough to be covered by the inland freight equalisation margin (IFEM). The current prices are Rs248.38 per litre for petrol and Rs255.14 per litre for HSD.
