"Unlawful Assembly, IHC Cracks Down on PTI's Protest Plans
IHC declares PTI's November 24 protest unlawful, citing security and public concerns. The government urged to ensure safety and resolve the matter peacefully.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf's (PTI) planned protest on November 24 as "unlawful," delivering a major setback to the party.
This ruling came after Islamabad traders filed a petition, citing concerns about disruptions the protest could cause. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq instructed the federal government to uphold law and order without inconveniencing the public, especially with the Belarusian president's visit accompanied by a high-profile delegation. The court also directed the Ministry of Interior to establish a committee to engage with PTI leadership for a peaceful resolution.
Despite the court's decision, PTI leader Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has affirmed that the protest will proceed unless Imran Khan is released from prison and decides otherwise. The situation remains tense as the government balances the safety of citizens and foreign delegates with the prevention of unauthorized protests.
