Pakistan Air Strikes Kill 46 in Afghanistan, Taliban Condemns 'Barbaric' Act

Kabul, Afghanistan: Pakistan’s airstrikes in the Barmal district of Paktika province have left 46 people dead, mostly women and children, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban government spokesman. The strikes, conducted late Tuesday night, also injured six people, predominantly children.

In response, the Taliban’s defense ministry condemned the airstrikes, labeling them "barbaric" and a "clear aggression." A statement from the ministry declared, "The Islamic Emirate will not leave this cowardly act unanswered, as defending its territory and sovereignty is its inalienable right."

Tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have been intensifying since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021. Islamabad accuses the Taliban of harboring militant groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani soil, a claim Kabul firmly denies.

This latest escalation threatens to further strain the already fragile relations between the two neighbors, with both sides exchanging sharp rhetoric.
