NADRA Chairman Lt. General Munir Afsar has announced that there may be an increase in the fees for identity cards if additional offices are opened. At present, NADRA's services are unavailable in 61 tehsils across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, making it difficult for citizens to access essential services. To improve accessibility, the authority plans to extend its network by opening more National Registration Centers (NRCs) and mega NRCs.

Currently, Karachi operates 26 NRCs and three mega NRCs, with plans to add one more NRC and four additional mega NRCs next year. The current fees for identity cards range from PKR 750 to PKR 2,500, depending on the type of service and processing time. Other services, such as Family Registration Certificates (FRC), Smart Pakistan Origin Cards (Smart POC), and Smart National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (Smart NICOP), cost between PKR 1,000 and USD 75.

Although the expansion will enhance service availability, it may result in higher fees. Citizens can apply for identity cards through NADRA Registration Centres, the Pak Identity website, or the PakID Mobile App.
