Gandapur Confident About Imran Khan’s Release
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Ameen Gandapur expresses confidence in Imran Khan's imminent release from jail, addressing Bushra Bibi's case and the ongoing political situation. He emphasizes PTI's peaceful struggle and calls for an investigation into the February 8 elections.
ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Ameen Gandapur believes that Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will be out of jail soon.
In a chat with The News on Tuesday, Gandapur was asked about his possible involvement in the release of Bushra Bibi. While he didn’t give a clear answer, he noted that her release was ordered by the court. “She was locked up on false charges,” he said, insisting that Khan will also be released before long.
When pressed about any deals related to Bushra Bibi’s release, Gandapur stated firmly, “We don’t believe in deals and won’t engage in one.” He confidently remarked, “The cases against Imran Khan are also fake.”
Addressing whether PTI would keep criticizing the army and its chief, he clarified, “We’re not against the institution or any individual; we’re just against their policies and want them to change.”
Gandapur stressed that PTI's struggle is peaceful and fully within the law and Constitution. He mentioned that they are calling for an investigation into the February 8 elections and the events of May 9.
According to sources from The News, Gandapur informed PTI leaders that he played a role in Bushra Bibi's release. It was mentioned that he had prior knowledge that she wouldn’t face any new arrests.
However, it remains unclear if any guarantees were made by Gandapur to those who reached out to him about Bushra's situation. When asked, Gandapur’s spokesperson Barrister Saif confirmed that the chief minister did discuss his role, but he didn’t have specific details about it.
From our Peshawar Bureau, reports indicate that Gandapur accused the federal and Punjab governments of mistreating Khan during his imprisonment. In a recent video message, he claimed that Khan is being denied basic facilities, including electricity and meals, saying that his rights are being violated. He warned the federal and Punjab governments, stating, “If there are any more complaints about the treatment of the PTI founder, we will shut down the entire country.
