Pakistani Cueists Face Setbacks in World Snooker Championship Group Stage

The Pakistani snooker team faced a challenging day at the IBSF World Snooker Championship as three out of four players suffered defeats, with only Asjad Iqbal securing a win. Asjad’s 4-2 victory over Iran’s Milad Fathpour Kashani provided a spark of optimism amid a string of tough matches for the team.

Awaisullah Muneer struggled to find his rhythm, enduring a 4-0 whitewash by South Korea’s Yongjun Park, as he failed to sustain his breaks throughout the game. Mohammad Naseem Akhtar showed promise in his match against Iran’s Tirdad Azadipour, battling to a tight 4-3 finish with an impressive 90 break in the second frame. However, Azadipour’s consistency ultimately saw him through. Mohammad Asif also faced a hard-fought contest, losing 4-2 to England’s Harvey Chandler, despite notable breaks of 64 and 74.

With one group stage match remaining for each player, the Pakistani team will be looking to regroup and aim for a stronger showing in their final games.
